While he will be merging medicine with his musical ministries, Christian reggae-dancehall powerhouse DJ Nicholas promised that he will not be deejaying to his patients.

From leaving Calabar High School with two subjects to now being accepted in what he described as one of the hardest universities to be enrolled in, the Things Already Betta deejay has broken the mould, as he's now on his way to start his master's programme at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia in the US.

"I am grateful to God. My desire was always to one day earn my bachelor's degree and it's an overwhelming feeling to know that I've accomplished that and am now pursuing my master's," DJ Nicholas told THE STAR.

In sharing his personal heartfelt testimony via his Instagram account last Saturday, the deejay recalled his educational journey and how his lack of focus didn't reap many benefits in his formative years. However, due to his persistent attitude and determination, he said that 30 years later, he is making up for lost time academically.

"I will always do music and ministry, but I'm happy I did not neglect the academic side of my life," he said. The post has been flooded with several fans congratulating the deejay while others shared their personal testimonies.

The programme, which begins in August 2026, will run for approximately two and a half years, in which he will complete a course in Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant. He said the decision was inspired by caring for his mom after she suffered a stroke.

"I enjoy patient care and I believe that with the knowledge and experience I've gained, I'll be able to educate the underserved as well as my community about the importance of proactively taking care of their health. This wasn't something I planned growing up; however, my mother had a stroke in 2004, and I became her primary caregiver for a while," shared DJ Nicholas, whose given name is Nicholas Eccleston. He noted that upon graduating from the programme, he will be an advanced practitioner.

As the musical creative plans to maintain his artistry while pursuing a career in the medical field, he said fans should brace for a touch of medical terminologies infiltrating his music.

"I usually incorporate my personal experiences into my music, so I'll likely be making medical references and analogies in future projects. I don't think I'll be deejaying for patients though," he laughed.

However, he said though his careers might be demanding, he's already set things in motion to balance all three 'Ms' - music, medicine and ministering.

"I believe healthcare overlaps and intertwines with ministry in many ways. Hopefully, I will be able to treat patients on the weekdays and leave the weekends open for ministering through music," the Cut It Off artiste stated, adding that, upon sharing his testimony, his intention is to "encourage and motivate others while giving glory to God".

While he prepares to take a major step into the world of medicine, the artiste remains excited about his upcoming shows in Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda, and hopes to release his sixth studio album next summer. He said his recent tracks, Prayer Meeting and his collaborative single, Equilibrium with gospel-dancehall artiste Prince Saj has been "doing well" and he's also set to release his Lazarus Productions-produced single Peter Peter.
