Church sisters clash over man
There was high drama in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Thursday after a woman admitted to using a brick to hit her church sister on the head.
The accused woman, who works as an administrative assistant, said she attacked her now ex-best friend because she thought she was messing with her husband of 11 years. She was charged with assault, but was lucky to walk out of the court with only a warning after the complainant told the judge she no longer had an interest in the matter.
"I am sorry for what I did, I was wrong. I did what I did because I was angry and I am still angry," the woman told Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque.
She continued: "I felt betrayed, we were very close, we went out together, we lived in the same house -- as in she and her husband would live with me and my husband until she would draw close with mine, and her husband divorced her and all of that. What I did, I did out of anger. I am very sorry."
The complainant told the court that she, too, had erred, but denied having a sexual relationship with the accused woman's husband.
"We were not doing anything, we were just talking," the complainant said.
She also told the judge that she had no interest in the matter going forward. The complainant was subsequently admonished and discharged.
