Falmouth looks to strengthen in transfer market
Dr Dean Weatherly, coach of Falmouth United, said that last Thursday's 8-0 win over Duanvale FC to take the Trelawny FA President's Cup title is mere preparation for the JFF/Western Confederation Super League, which started just over a week ago.
Falmouth United are four points from two games in the Super League after their 0-0 scoreline against Hopewell United FC on Sunday. The team had recorded a 3-2 win over Grand Palladium FC in their first game.
"Our ultimate goal is to qualify for the Premier League, and, as I said from last year, it is a two-year project. This is the ultimate now, so we can't really come and play soft, we have to get ready and go with all guns blazing," Weatherly said.
Weatherly, who won the Premier League with Montego Bay United in 2014, is looking to add more players to the Ky-Mani Marley-owned outfit in the January transfer window in their quest to get to top-flight football.
"We have other things in the pipeline because there are areas we are weak in and must strengthen. It's not really a wholesale transfer, but we need like six key players in each position. We have to have marquee players down the spine of the team," said Weatherly.
