BENEISON turned Sunday's Reggae 6 on its head, closing rapidly in sloppy conditions to catch BRAHMA BULL stealing home at odds of 13-1 with defending two-time champion jockey Raddesh Roman in the third event, resulting in a payout of $89,369.

Saturday's Reggae 6 opens with an $18.8m single-winner bonus, which, if not caught, will form a massive mandatory payout for next week, Easter Monday, April 6.

Nailing the single-winner bonus on the eve of a mandatory payout is always a good strategy for serious bettors aiming to scoop the jackpot ahead of the cavalry charge.

Starting strong will be key to Saturday's Reggae 6, which could be a minefield for the first three races.

BATTLE ANGEL is the horse to beat in the opener after her charging second behind MIDNIGHT RUNNER at five and a half furlongs. However, if she is let off her bride too early, BATTLE ANGEL could idle if faced with a stubborn front runner, who gets comfortable on the lead.

There are many variables at play in the opener at seven furlongs, whereas BATTLE ANGEL needs the perfect race to have things her way from off the pace. Play it safe and start with options - CONUNDRUM, BROMPTON ALEX, NAKAMURA and THE SOUL WARRIOR - in case BATTLE ANGEL throws in a clinker.

Stay on the path of safety in the second as well, older non-winners of two races, horses who took forever to win a maiden race, and a foreigner, BUBBLINGBROWNSUGAR, who is yet to get off the mark.

Stay safe in the second with four selections, OH MY GOSH, PLANNER, NEVER, and FORT HALDANE, the horse to beat on account of consecutive second-place finishes.

Go with another quartet in the third, a small but deceptive line-up, which will be influenced by ALKEBULAN's speed. PLAYFAIR has been looking sharp at exercise but a collapsed pace is possible, which could factor PRINCESS CATALEYA charging at the likes of INDESTRUCTIBLE and BUSHFIRE.

The back end of the Reggae 6 has three solid bankers - PHOENIX RISEN, BLACK RINGO and RICORICORICO - who should dominate the lead of their respective races.
