As western Jamaica reels from the devastation of Hurricane Melissa, managing director of Dream Entertainment, Scott Dunn, is pledging hands-on support for the communities in the hard-hit parishes.

Dream Entertainment is preparing to debut its Dream Weekend event in Montego Bay, the capital of St James, and Dunn revealed that his team is already planning ways to help persons in getting their lives back on track.

"These people need our help," Dunn said.

A celebrated week-long party series, Dream Weekend has relocated to Montego Bay, having previously called Negril its home. Dunn said the people in western Jamaica, particularly in Montego Bay and Negril "are near and dear to us, so anything weh we can duh to help people who have been affected by the storm, we're gonna try and do that soon".

Hurricane Melissa, which struck Jamaica as a powerful Category 5 storm on Tuesday, left widespread destruction across several parishes, with western Jamaica being the hardest hit. As of late yesterday, four lives had been confirmed lost.

Dream Weekend 2026 is scheduled to take place from July 30 to August 4, 2026, in Montego Bay. Though the event is still nearly a year away, Scott Dunn said his team is already focused on supporting the city in its recovery efforts.

"If there's ever gonna be a time in which these western parishes need our help is now," he said.

"Suh anything that we can do in the immediate aftermath, but also long term, in being an economic driver for these communities, we're gonna go [hard] towards it," Dunn shared.

The Dream managing director stressed that the immediate priority is aiding those affected by the hurricane.

"It's very important because we're all Jamaicans and there's one thing about us, we stand together - both the people who live here and in the diaspora," he said.

"If there's ever a time we have to come together it is now," Dunn added.
