Municipal cop allegedly assaults cabbie
A municipal police officer has been slapped with several charges following an incident on November 9.
He has been identified as 38-year-old Trevan Clarke of Passagefort Drive, Portmore, St Catherine. He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault at common law and using a firearm to commit a felony. Reports from the Portmore police are that at 1 p.m., Clarke physically assaulted a man after an altercation developed between them over a vehicle the man used as a taxi. It is further reported that during the fracas, Clarke brandished his firearm, struck the man to his face, and then pointed the weapon at him.
A report was made to the police, and an investigation was launched. Clarke turned himself in on Tuesday, where he was subsequently charged. A court date is being finalised for him.
