A motor vehicle crash on Spur Tree Hill road has plunged sections of St Elizabeth into sudden darkness, forcing the Jamaica Public Service (JPS) to rush into emergency mode to replace a broken pole.

According to JPS, a vehicle slammed into the light pole, damaging critical infrastructure and triggering an emergency power outage as crews now work to replace the broken pole.

The utility company says the outage is scheduled to last from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., affecting communities stretching from Spur Tree to Junction, including New Forrest and its environs, as well as areas from Gutters to Junction and Bull Savannah.

In a warning to road users, JPS urged motorists to exercise caution, "as these accidents place lives at risk and divert critical resources away from ongoing restoration across the parish."
