Just a few years ago, Georgia Samuels was searching for ways to rebuild her life after losing almost everything in a fire. Today, instead of rebuilding, she is preparing to bury her youngest son.

"Now mi have to be looking about casket for my baby," the heartbroken mother told THE STAR, her voice cracking under the weight of unimaginable grief.

Her 17-year-old son, Kenrick Ebanks, otherwise called ‘Wealthy Stunt’, was killed when armed men invaded her house at White Lane, Naggo Head, St Catherine, in the dead of night on Saturday. The thugs reportedly kicked in the back door of her home and launched a brutal attack that also left 20-year-old Michael Elliot Jr of Clifton, Portmore, dead.

Elliot Jr is the boyfriend of Samuels' pregnant daughter. The young woman was shot and injured during the attack and remains hospitalised.

For Samuels, the pain is made even harder by what she describes as a cruel twist of fate.

In December 2022, arsonists torched her home and grocery shop in White Lane, forcing her to flee the community in fear. She vowed she would never return. However, when promises of relocation failed to materialise, and the burden of paying rent became too much, Samuels reluctantly returned to White Lane after about a year. She slowly began piecing her life back together, rebuilding her home, reopened her small shop and tried to move forward.

But in a cruel twist of fate, the community she returned to has become the scene of her greatest heartbreak. In fact, as the reality of her son's death sinks in, Samuels struggles to understand why he was targeted.

"God give me three boys and three girls, him is the last one out of six. Him is not a gunman, him do delivery," she said through tears.

The teenager, she explained, spent his days earning an honest living doing food deliveries and entertaining friends with motorcycle stunts.

To his mother, he was not a troublemaker. He was simply her baby.

"Dem kill him for what? I don’t know because him nah buss gun. If he was bussing gun it would be different," she said.

Samuels recounted the terrifying moments when gunmen stormed her home while the family slept.

"I was in my bedroom and mi hear the shot dem and mi jump up,” she recounted. “Mi hear mi daughter knock on the door and say, ‘Mommy!’ When mi open mi see two persons coming down the passage, two figure. I coundn't tell what they look like because mi couldn’t see them face," she told THE STAR.

She continued: "Mi hear dem ask, weh you mother, so mi daughter run in mi room and them fire three shot into the door and mi turn the lock."

According to Samuels, her daughter managed to escape through a bedroom window as the gunmen continued their deadly rampage.

As bullets rang out through the house, Samuels said she remained hidden under her bed, desperately hoping the attackers would not find her.

"After the shooting stop, mi daughter come in and say them gone, and tell me sey them kill Kenrick and her babyfather."

After Saturday night’s deadly attack, Samuels now says she is determined to leave the community for good. The police have been maintaining a heavy presence as they pursue leads and deter other crimes.
