Cop vanishes after visit to girlfriend, misses duty

A St Catherine-based police constable has been reported missing after he failed to return home from visiting his girlfriend and did not report for duty over the weekend.

The missing officer has been identified as Constable Kevin Williams, who is attached to the Waterford Police Station and lives in Cumberland, Portmore.

According to preliminary reports, Williams left his home to visit his girlfriend on Johns Road in Spanish Town but never returned. He also failed to report for duty at the Waterford Police Station at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 18.

Concerned relatives later reported him missing at the Caymanas Police Station on Sunday, July 19.

Efforts to contact Williams have been unsuccessful, as repeated calls to his cellphone have gone unanswered since Saturday.

A colleague described Williams as a dedicated and dependable officer.

"He's humble, jovial, always ready for duty. He's basically a reserved kind of guy, dependable," the colleague said.

Police have since launched a search for the missing constable, and investigations into his disappearance are ongoing.
