Despite taking only a point from previous Jamaica Premier League (JPL) leaders, Racing United, in a 0-0 draw on Sunday, coach of Waterhouse Football Club, Jermaine Miller, said the team left the game with a renewed sense of belief.

After the departure of coach Marcel Gayle, Miller has worked with Argentine technical adviser Javier Ainstein for the past two weeks to prepare the squad, and believes they are making steady progress, and he is convinced that with time they will get it right.

"Most definitely (feeling positive after the result). Yes, we have new personnel in terms of the coaching staff and we are experimenting with some new ideas. It's going to take some time but we are definitely working and we are seeing a lot of progress," he stated.

In the first meeting between the teams, Racing outplayed and defeated Waterhouse 2-1 at the Drewsland Mini-Stadium, and although Miller accepts that a draw away to the former league leaders is progress, he believes they had enough opportunities to take three points but pointed out that missed opportunities have been their Achilles heel all season.

"We need to score more of our chances. The conversion rate is not what we want it to be. So we have to keep working on putting the ball in the back of the net.

"We have been working a lot in the final third. We are a team that creates a lot of chances. The previous game we didn't get it right. We made a lot of changes and it's just a matter of taking the time to get it right, but we will get better," he said.

He added that despite not getting the desired result on Sunday, they go into their next match with greater expectations.

"It was really difficult to play. There were small areas on the pitch we could utilise and I didn't think we utilised it well. Nevertheless we created some good opportunities and really should have won the game.

"We tried and got a few chances from the wide areas, especially on the right side. So now it is just for us to look forward to the next game (against Cavalier) and try to get three points.

"After winning the previous encounter against them, we are confident we can do it again," he added.
