Chapelton humble JPL leaders MoBay United
Chapelton Maroons humbled Jamaica Premier League (JPL) leaders Montego Bay United at Turner's Oval on Sunday, beating the St James club 3-1 to keep themselves in the hunt for a top-six spot.
Damoi Whitfield put the Maroons ahead seven minutes into the second half, before veteran forward Levaughn Williams made it 2-0 in the 69th minute.
The home team were relentless and four minutes later Sean Leighton added a third to put the game beyond doubt.
Malachi Sterling scored MoBay's consolation goal, pulling one back in time added on.
The result pushed Chapelton to 38 points.
The Maroons are now four points adrift of Cavalier in sixth.
MoBay stayed on top of the league with 57 points, five more than Racing United, who had to settle for 0-0 draw with Tivoli Gardens at Ferdi Neita Park.
In the feature match at Drewsland Mini Stadium, Colorado Murray scored twice in the second half as Waterhouse FC came from behind to beat Cavalier 2-1.
Cavalier drew first blood, with James Gallimore putting them in front four minutes before the half-time break.
However, Waterhouse kept pushing for the equaliser and were rewarded with a goal five minutes into the second half, thanks to Murray.
Then with eight minutes remaining, Murray scored his third goal in two matches, to secure all three points for the home team.
At Dunbeholden Sports Complex, the home team squeezed out a narrow 1-0 win over Molynes United, to join Tivoli on 35 points and sit just three points off Chapelton.
Veteran midfielder Damion Binns scored the only goal of the game, netting in first-half stoppage-time to give his team three valuable points.
In the other later game, Harbour View FC defeated Arnett Gardens FC at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex. Harbour View scored through the league's leading scorer Trayvone Reid, who found the net after 12 minutes.
Arnett stayed seventh on 38 points, while Harbour View are third from bottom on 27 points, two more than Molynes United (25) and eight clear of last-placed Spanish Town Police.
