Man reverses car into taxi, then allegedly stabs driver in neck
A late-night crash in Runaway Bay spiralled into fatal altercation when a 25-year-old higgler allegedly reversed his car into a taxi operator's vehicle and ended the confrontation with a stab to the neck.
Charged with murder is Demario Ferguson, otherwise called 'Mari', of Clark's Lane, Bounty Hall, Trelawny.
Deceased has been identified as 49-year-old taxi operator Paul Miller of Mount Edgecombe, Runaway Bay, St Ann.
Police reports say that about 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, Ferguson was driving a Toyota Axio when he reportedly reversed into Miller's Toyota Pro Box motor car. A heated tussle reportedly followed between the two men, during which Miller was allegedly stabbed in the neck by Ferguson.
Miller was rushed to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators say that following the stabbing, Ferguson and three other men fled the scene, but their escape was short-lived. The vehicle they were travelling in later crashed along the Runaway Bay main road, where police accosted them. The men were transported to hospital for treatment.
After further investigations, Ferguson was charged with murder following a question-and-answer session.
His court date is now being finalised.
